THE SKY IN THE ROOM - THE SEA IN THE FRAME
ὅρος /hó.ros/
The Apulian coast revealed the importance of aqua and ether dualism. With a first glimpse, the beauty of the place was immediately noticed. Subsequently, it was understood how the relationship between sky and sea was an interesting theme to focus on since the union of the two creates a limit or ὅρος. The project desires to embrace nature to reveal the peculiarities concealed behind a simple glance. Following this idea of unconventional perception of the surroundings, the natural elements are treated unusually to grasp their beauty from an alternative point of view. The constant lite motive is to “see each other” The eye element is crucial for the realization of the project.
Paths are created alongside the immediate surroundings to grant permeability to the tower and to allow visitors to walk both on land and water. Throughout these paths metal frames are placed to enclose the seascape, these focal points allow visitors to gaze into “real-life paintings”. Subsequently, when entering the tower, the sky is found inside the room. The ether element is thought to be brought inside the enclosed space and to be looking downward, where a mirror sculpture is present, which reflects the sky over a ceiling window. Once the tower's upper level is reached, visitors are embraced by a light metal frame that recreates the original shape of the tower. At the same time cuts through the net are created to incorporate the idea of “eye sighting” to see each other or the seascape.
